Springwood at Gawler East was awarded the much-coveted title of Best Masterplanned Development in South Australia on Friday evening at the Urban Development Industry Association (UDIA) SA Awards for Excellence.
The prestigious UDIA SA Awards for Excellence program recognises the most outstanding examples of property and masterplanned developments across an extensive variety of criteria.
Springwood Project Director, Warwick Mittiga said, “We’re so thrilled to be awarded Best Masterplanned Development in South Australia. This award is a real reflection of the extensive work that has gone into the careful creation of the Springwood masterplan. In addition to the significant investment in infrastructure and social infrastructure committed to our community and wider Gawler East.”
The UDIA SA Awards for Excellence are judged on a range of criteria including key features of the masterplan, consideration of the environment, provision of amenity, social infrastructure and sustainability, among other factors.
“In developing our masterplan, we wanted to create a community that thrives as a lifestyle hub. A masterplanned development that works with the natural features of the land, to create a connected and diverse place, complemented with all the amenity of Gawler and the city. While our community is still young and early in its delivery, this award really signifies what an incredible future Springwood and our residents have. We really are the most exciting new development in the state,” said Mr Mittiga.
UDIA SA, Chief Executive Officer, Pat Gerace spoke of the achievement, “The best developments often take the existing urban context and make them strengths of a new vision. It wasn’t surprising that Springwood won the masterplanned category after the UDIA judges were impressed by the way the new masterplan ensured the quarry was a positive feature of the development by providing a unique backdrop to sporting facilities adjacent to the proposed school site.”
